culturally sensitive Licensed Couple and Family Therapist

Hi! I'm Maia Easley, founder + Sex and Relationship Therapist at Bare Conversations. I'm a culturally sensitive Licensed Couple and Family Therapist and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. I began practicing psychotherapy after getting my Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the Spelman College and completing clinical training in relational and systemic therapy at Adler University. Now we're here, putting in the work to create relatability and safety around sex in Black and Brown communities.

Maia Easley, Founder + Sex and Relationship Therapist

Basically, I help people navigate their relationships with themselves, others, and their identity.

About the practice

When I founded Bare Conversations, I wanted clients to be able to see themselves in me and feel understood by someone who can relate. I take a strong approach to therapy by using strength and evidence-based techniques to challenge you into becoming a healthier, more whole version of yourself. Whether starting therapy for the first time or years in, I'll meet you where you are. Together, we'll empower your self-discovery in a safe space.

I'm trained to work with individuals, systems, and groups of people in areas including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship conflict, sexual dysfunction, and other intimacy concerns. I work with individuals of color and BIPOC + interracial couples to heal from past trauma and flourish as their unique selves. I'll be there to support you throughout your journey (sprinkling in a bit of tough love whenever necessary, of course).

PhD candidate in Clinical Sexology

I'm also a PhD candidate in Clinical Sexology at Modern Sex Therapy Institutes. I am proudly sex-positive, LGBTQIA+, Kink, BDSM, and polyamory-affirming. Bare Conversations is a safe and welcoming space where clients can feel comfortable sharing their true identities and innermost thoughts. If you're ready to dig deep and make some big changes, I'm the therapist for you.

Ready to get started? I'd love for us to get to know each other. Schedule a 15-minute consultation and we can come up with a plan.

CHANGING THE NARRATIVE OF THERAPY FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR

When I founded my practice, the vision was to provide a therapy space that felt just like home. If "sitting on a really cozy couch" was an emotion – that's how I want my clients to feel – relaxed, unguarded, and safe. Hesitancy around beginning a healing journey is understandable, especially since the mental health industry lacks diverse representation.

I'm working to change the narrative of therapy for people of color by helping my clients understand the unique blueprint that makes them, them. Together, we'll get to the root of things. We'll laugh, cry, (probably within the same session sometimes if we're being real) and figure it all out together one day at a time.

It's safe to be who you are here. No filters, no pretending – just raw humanity and beautiful individuality that makes us each exactly who we are. We're transparent too, sharing our authentic selves to form a genuine connection throughout the therapy process.

Safety

Feeling safe is the heart of intimacy, and the same goes for therapy. Nothing is considered taboo here. Cultivating a feeling of trust is a priority at Bare Conversations, enabling our clients to speak vulnerably and openly about anything they'd like to process.

safety

So-called "awkward" topics aren't awkward around here. We're all about relatability and comfort, no matter what the subject is. You know, that lovely unguarded feeling when you stop thinking about what you're sharing and just let it flow – that's the one.
